One of Bollywood’s biggest superstar, Akshay Kumar is proving to be a saviour for many in these difficult times. After pledging a big amount of Rs 25 crores for PM CARES Relief Funds, the actor is now trying to help the owner of Mumbai’s iconic screen theatre cluster. Gaiety and Galaxy also known as G7, is one of the oldest and the most iconic multiplex in Mumbai. The theatres almost runs to full capacity on weekends when a film is a hit, and stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Ranveer Singh have visited the theatre for audience reactions on the weekend of their film release. However with the lockdown in place and the pandemic cases on a rise, theatres will be shut for a long time. And amidst this chaos, Akshay Kumar called up Manoj Desai, the owner of the theatre to check on him and ask if he needs any financial aid to pay off his employees. The theatre has many employees hired and to pay them their monthly salary with theatres being shut for more than a month now, is surely difficult for the owner. But Akshay Kumar has promised that he would help them out.
This piece of information was revealed by Manoj Desai himself to an entertainment daily, where he spoke about Akshay’s kind gesture. He said, “Three days ago, I got a call from Akshay ji. He offered to provide financial assistance if the scenario continues. It was kind of him to offer help, but we should find a way to sustain ourselves. We have managed to collect enough funds to pay the salaries for this month, but the theatre shutdown will have long-term ramifications. Our focus is to ensure we don’t trim staff or resort to pay cuts.”
That’s surely a noble act by Khiladi Kumar. After his big charity to the PM’s relief funds and now helping out a theatre with their employment scenes is incredible.
